The Deer Grove Bike Path
3 Mile Loop east of Quentin

This is the north side of the 3 mile loop in Deer Grove (east) on the "Red Trail" passing the RC airfield on the right (the loop is actually 2.9 miles (according to my GPS bike computer) but to keep it simple I also refer to it as the 3 mile loop).

As I've mentioned in the previous photo pages for this bike trail, these photos are pretty old now (from 2003) so things have changed some now although the actual trail layout is the same as it has been for many years now. I am also planning on getting some newer photos of this trail and surrounding area but I like keeping these photos out here for historical purposes. Photo page #3 in this set is probably the most significant since they chopped down many of the trees in the wooded section on the west leg (black trail) part of this trail and I have a few photos of how it looked before they took the trees out.

These photo are from early spring so the trees were not totally filled in yet. the photo above is from the southern side of the "red trail" just after the last forest preserve parking area. The fence is still there after all these years.

The photo above is also from the southern part of the paved red trail, or the 3 mile loop around Deer Grove.

This is one of the "Off-Road" (or unpaved trail) entrances from Deer Grove East. The unpaved sections of trails in Deer Grove (both east and west) have changed quite a bit since these photos were taken. This trail started out fairly well groomed with crushed stone but got much more rugged as you continue on the trail. A few years back they made major improvements (although we may not all consider them "improvements") to the unpaved trails in Deer Grove. These trails are pretty well groomed and maintained now.
