The Deer Grove Bike Path Photos
Northwest of Quentin and Dundee

This is the Deer Grove (west) entrance at Dundee and Quentin. This is where I usually get on this trail when connecting to it from the Palatine Trail. The Palatine Bike Trail ends at Dundee Road on the north and west end of the trail and there is a small section of the trail that runs along Dundee Road and up to Quentin (this entrance). This is a busy intersection but there is a traffic signal and bike and pedestrian crossing signs.

Once you get on the trail from the entrance at Palatine and Quentin you start out on a nice wooded section of the trail. This area is wooded and scenic but it is a short section (about a third of a mile) that takes you into the end of one of the forest preserve roads and parking lot.

Once you it the parking lot and forest preserve road you just take the forest preserve road for a short distance (about a tenth of a mile) to an entrance to the trail on the right.

This is the short jig jog on the forest preserve road. It is only about one tenth of a mile before you get on the regular bike path again. You need to look out for it on the right. It's easy to find when you know about where it is but you could just ride past it if you had never taken it before and were not looking out for it. The next photo page shows this entrance.

I have been updating the captions on the bike trail photo pages on this site (years later now) but keep in mind that I did the original bike trail photo pages many years ago. There have been some changes to the bike trails but this section has remained the same for many years now. Some of the major changes have to do with the non-paved trails in Deer Grove. They used to just be dirt paths with rocks, ravines and even fallen tress that you would have to go over. Now the off-road trails have stone surfaces and are much better groomed than before.
