Near Marseilles

Continuing west on the IMC Trail after passing through the town of Seneca. This little stretch of the trail has an open area on the left and is just before the railroad tracks where we lost track of the trail for a short time.

A huge cocoon along the path... Maybe this helps to explain all of the butterflies along the path (or is this one for moths). We actually came across a few of these cocoons on this ride.

We lost the trail here and I'm not really sure if this blacktop road is supposed to be part of the trail. Actually, in retrospect, I don't think that it was part of the trail. I think the trail is just to the side of this road. Anyway it was not difficult to find the trail again after a short detour.

The trail is just to the right. If you find this place you missed where the trail jogs to the right at this road...

So after our short detour at the tracks we got back on to the trail again. This part of the trail was pretty narrow and there was some fairly loose gravel in places too which was a little tricky to ride on (especially with a road bike).

The photo above and the remaining photos on the next photo page are actually on the way back. We were running out of time (daylight time) on this trip and had to turn around in a wooded area near Marseilles. This ended up being a 70 mile trip for us (both ways) so we had to keep track of the time to allow for enough daylight to get back. We actually cut it a little short and it was already getting dark by the time we returned to Channahon.
