The photo above is the I&M Canal Trail as we continued west towards Seneca after leaving Morris. The photos don't always capture the depth of the path through the woods but if you look down the path it looks kind of like a green tunnel with the path continuing on the other side.
This was a very distinctive looking and interesting old wooden highway bridge. The detail in these photos is not that good since all I had was a low quality digital camera at the time of the first part of this photo tour (photo pages 1-7). You can see a big step up in photo quality when you get to the later part of the photo tour (starting with photo page 8).
A bright green wetland (still water) area along the path... The photos don't quite capture the deep and intense colors (but then again, you don't have to worry about the mosquitoes on the internet! :-) )
The bright green wetland looked pretty cool here but this is about as close as I wanted to get. I can't imagine having to cross through something like that as some of the early explorers may have. Also, if you stop for any length of time out here you will become mosquito food.
It is still not uncommon to come across a fallen tree covering the path at times as in the photo above. This one was not all that hard to get around. I have also found that they do maintain this path pretty well. On my second I&M Trail ride we came across some trees that covered the trail on our trip west (about 20 miles) and they had already been removed by the time that we passed by on our way back.
The photo above shows the distinctive old red building as we passed through the town of Seneca. I know that the sign by the trail is not really readable in this small photo but it just says I&M Canal State Trail - Seneca Access.
