LifeSpan Fitness Bike and Indoor Cycle Review

LifeSpan Fitness produces durable high-end Exercise Bike and Indoor Cycles that are only sold online and through speciality fitness shops which is why they may not be as well known as the popular fitness brands that you see in retail stores.

Since the goal of LifeSpan Fitness is to "design and develop products that are easy to use, durable and innovative, keep the focus of design on the user's safety and comfort, and maximize the health benefits of the workout", being the most popular brand is not their focus and they do not try to compete in the fitness mass market.

LifeSpan Fitness actually has a limited number of fitness products. Their main focus is on Treadmills, Fitness Bikes and Indoor Cycles.

At the time of this review the current line-up of Exercise Bikes and Indoor Cycles at Lifetime Fitness includes one Upright Bike (the C3i), One Recumbent Bike (the R3i) and three Indoor Cycles (the S1 and S2).

LifeSpan Upright and Recumbent Stationary Bikes

The biggest advantage that you get with the LifeSpan Uprights and Recumbents is the comfort and durability. One indicator of the strength and durability of any stationary bike is the maximum user capacity. The LifeSpan Upright and Recumbent both have a max user capacity of 400 lbs! Compare that to any other residential (or even commercial) fitness bike.

LifeSpan Fitness Club

Another very nice feature that you get with LifeSpan Fitness Bikes (the Upright and Recumbent models) is a Free membership to the Lifetime Online Fitness Club and a USB port in the console of these bikes that allow you to automatically upload your workout stats and information to your account online to view your stats and track your progress.

LifeSpan Fitness Indoor Cycles

One of the key features of any Indoor Cycle in addition to strength and durability, is that the seat, handlebars and resistence level be quickly, easily and fully adjustable.

All LifeSpan Indoor Cycles have a fully adjustable seat (up/down, fore/aft), adjustable handlebars designed for multiple positions, and easy to use resistence level knob.

The seats and pedals (on all models) use standard mounts and are interchangable with traditional outdoor bike seats and pedals. Lifespan Indoor Cycles are powered with a chain drive system.

LifeSpan Fitness produces durable high-end products backed up with excellent warranties and with some very nice (and fairly unique) features. The biggest problem that I have found with LifeSpan products is the price.

LifeSpan Exercise Bikes (the Upright and Recumbent models) in particular are very expensive and I believe that you can get more for your money from other brands.

LifeSpan Indoor Cycles, on the other hand, are very reasonably priced and their current line-up gives you a pretty good selection of quality Indoor Cycles that can compete with the other major brands.
