High Quality ~ No Frills, Traditional Design

What you get with the LifeSpan S2 Indoor Cycle is a compact, sturdy, high quality Indoor Cycle from a reputable fitness equipment maker that specializes in a limited number of high quality fitness products including exercise bikes and indoor cycles.

The LifeSpan S2, like all traditional indoor cycling bikes, is more similar to a traditional outdoor bike, and is typically used for training and more serious cardiovascular workouts.

WIth the LifeSpan S2 you get a fully adjustable Indoor Cycle including: vertical and horizontal seat adjustments, vertical handlebar adjustments and infinite resistance adjustments. You also get the multi-position handlebars, front fork water bottle holder and a Lifetime Warranty on the bike frame.

The reason that I call this a "No Frills" Indoor Cycle is because you do not get workout programs or DVDs, an electronic console, to monitor your progress and stats, nor do you get a heat rate monitor (although many cyclists will use their own chest strap monitor if they have one).

Indoor Cycle or Exercise Bike

Indoor Cycles, such as the LifeSpan S2, are more sturdy and will not usually be quite as comfortable as a traditional Upright Exercise Bikes or Recumbent Exercise Bikes (see the sidebars for examples of these kinds of exercise bikes) but are generally more similar to traditional outdoor bikes (specifically road and racing bikes) and are used for a more intense workout or for outdoor cycle training.

Indoor Cycles are more compact than most fitness equipment and are fully mechanical so there are no electronic parts to break or become obsolete. Since the resistance mechanism is infinitely adjustable (friction based) it can also be set to a very low level for warm-up, warm-down or for someone just starting a fitness program or to an almost impossible resistance level for the strongest riders or to stand on the pedals to assimilate a steep mountain climb.

LifeSpan products can be very pricey but their Indoor Cycles are very competitively priced.

The LifeSpan S2 Indoor Cycle does not come with an electronic console to monitor your progress (as some other indoor cycles do). If this is an important feature to you then see our other Indoor Cycles listed in the side columns of this page (bottom of page for mobile users). Although the console can be a nice feature, it can also be a distraction and something else that can break.

Although the LifeSpan S2 Indoor Cycle does not have some of the additional features of other indoor cycles, I believe that the quality and warranties balance this out and I would recommend the LifeSpan S2 for anyone looking for a compact, sturdy, high quality Fitness Bike  that will last for many years to come.
