The photo above is where the Paul Douglas Trail (PDT) branches off to the left for the bridge over Central Road and into Hoffman Estates and Schaumburg. This opens up a kit of possibilities to extend your rides to of from the PDT. This is along Roselle Road just south of Central Road.
This photo is from right after the bridge was complete and open and on an overcast day so there is no grass yet and the photo is not that scenic but I really wanted to get this update posted for those who are interested.
This photo is also south of Central (along Roselle) and shows the bridge a little better.
And finally here's a photo of what it looks like as you cross the Paul Douglas Bike Trail Bridge over Central Road. This bridge and the path that goes over the Expressway (I90) bridge are totally away from traffic and very safe.
There is actually only one tollway intersection that you need to cross after the bridge and there are lights and crosswalks there.
The photo tour below is from early spring of 2009 when this bike trail had only existed for a few months..

Finally the trail is open and the bridge over Central Road is complete! This opens up a lot of possible extentions from or to the Paul Douglas Trail. The trail also continues to cross over the expressway (I90) and into Hoffman Estates and Schaumburg. Below is a few pictures that I took of the brand new bridge.
