Algonquin Road Trail - Photos 5
North of Paul Douglas Woods

Back out to the side of Algonquin Road again (this time on the left (or south) side). It is not real scenic here (the photo above) but it is a nice long stretch of trail that goes on for quite a ways and this trail does not get very crowded.

This is the intersection at Winston Drive, which will take you into (or out of...)   the north Hoffman Estates neighborhoods.

Coming up to the long bridge. The path gets kind of narrow here but there is room for riders (walkers, joggers, etc) on both sides. THe path is right next to Algonquin Road here but there is a sturdy looking rail and kind of low fence. It still makes me a little nervous on the bridge when a large truck is barreling down Algonquin right next to you. Like the gravel trucks that you see on this road occasionally and that can lose a rock here and there (OK, maybe it's just a phoebia of mine).

Here's a close up view of the long bridge with the bike path on the left and Algonquin Road on the right (at least there's a guard rail here!)

here is another view of the bridge looking back this time. At this point the guard rail (on the left now) is on top of a cement barrier between the road and the trail. It's really not that long of a stretch but I thought it was worth mentioning.

This is the view (also along Algonquin Road (on the right)) just before the trail curves to the left and goes off into the woods for a little stretch. The trail continues to run next to Algonquin Road up ahead but you get a little away from the road and there is some woods between the trail and the road so it a nicer stretch of the trail. It is less than a mile from here to the intersection where you can go left to continue around Paul Douglas FP (to the entrance at Grassy Ridge Meadow) and beyond or to the right to connect to the Crabtree part of the trail.
