The Affordable Recumbent from Proform

When you have shopped around for Recumbent Exercise Bikes long enough, you realize that they are generally more expensive than the Upright models produced by the top fitness equipment manufacturers.

Fortunately, this is not always the case. Proform has just come out with a good quality, mid-range Recumbent at a very reasonable price.

The Proform 320CX Recumbent is a sturdy and comfortable recumbent with many of the same features as the much more expensive models.

The Proform 320CX has the same overall design as the Proform 6.0ES Recumbent, is just as comfortable and gives you just as good of a workout. You actually even get a better warranty on the 320XC than on the 6.0ES model ~ 7 years on the frame vs 5 years on the 6.0ES and even less on many other low-cost models from other brands.

What you do not get with the Proform 320CX are some of the extra electronic and motivational features like the iFit option, more workout programs and a few additional resistance levels.

Motivation and External Boredom Relief

There are some advantages to the additional motivational features (like the iFit option) of the more expensive models but you still get the music player jack and built-in sound system on the 320CX which is one of the key motivational and boredom relieving features on any fitness bike.

After that, there are still plenty of external devices available these days to help pass the time like having a TV near by or having a laptop, tablet computer or mobile device handy. These types of things are actually very important to help you pass time and stick with your fitness program and goals.

Another benefit of Recumbent Exercise Bikes in general is that your hands are free to read or use the latest mobile devices as you workout (once again to help pass the time).

Although the external motivational options that I have mentioned here can be used with any fitness product, I mention them here because they can be an important part of your fitness routine and since the Proform 320CX Recumbent does not have as many built-in motivational features as the more expensive models.

Back to the Basics

What you do get with this low-cost recumbent is a cushioned and very comfortable seat that is fully adjustable with the easy to reach adjustment lever below the seat (no cheap twist knob adjustment device), 18 workout programs, 18 resistance levels, lower handlebar Grip Pulse Heart rate Monitor, latest easy to read backlit LCD monitor and a 300lb weight capacity which is a good indicator of how durable the bike is regardless of your own weight.

About-Bicycles Review

You need to be careful when considering any Low-Cost fitness equipment since there is some pretty flimsy junk out there. For the most part, low-cost products from the major brands (like Proform) are going to be higher quality then the cheaper models from other companies.

Nothing really replaces going out and personally trying out the fitness bikes that you are considering buying but there are some key indicators of the quality of fitness bikes that you can find pretty easily online.

Although I have mentioned some of these key quality indicators above they may have gotten lost in the other details. The User Weight Capacity is a good indication of the products durability. The Proform 320CX is rated at 300lbs which indicates good durability.

Next, the Warranty is a good indicator of the manufacturer's confidence in the product. The 320CX has a 7 year warranty on the frame and 90 days on parts and labor. The warranty on the frame is very good although I would like to see a 1 year warranty on parts and labor.

In general, I have found the Proform 320CX to be a good quality recumbent exercise bike for the price. You do not get all of the electronic and motivational extras that you get with the higher priced bikes but when you want to keep your costs down, there are the external options (mentioned above) and you still get a good quality bike from a name brand manufacturer with the Proform 320CX.
