The Chicago Lakefront Trail Photos
North of Lincoln Park to Montrose

Here's the start of the Chicago Lakefront Bike Trail Photo Tour at Kathy Osterman Park just north of Hollywood Ave. I actually parked near Montrose Harbor (since I knew of a place that had free parking with spaces that were usually available (at lease at off times)) then rode north to the trail head before taking photos for the photo tour.

This is the turnaround at the north end of the trail. Just for reference this is north of Montrose Harbor and further north of Lincoln Park.

Some scenes from the northern end of the trail. This is where you go through one of the parks near Foster Ave.

A few tall buildings on the north end of the lakefront trail. This is pretty far north of the downtown area so you don't have the huge skyscrapers yet and the buildings are still spread out a little more at this point.

Passing by a number of beaches along the Lake Michigan shoreline in Chicago. I actually took this ride on the Lakefront path on a weekday in August to avoid the crowds as much as possible. It was a beautiful summer day and there were people out at the beaches, and on the trail, but just not quite as crazy as it would have been on a weekend.

This is the bike path as you come up to Montrose Harbor (and back to where I parked so we are still not very far from the trail head on the north end of the trail).

This is a photo from Montrose Harbor. The harbor and boats can be seen in the background but I was trying to get the flowers in the foreground too since there was a really nice flowery field here.

There is bridge over an athletic field at Montrose. There was some kind of an event going on here (a soccer game I believe) on my way back which was much later in the afternoon but it was pretty quiet and deserted on my way south to the city.
