Green Bay and Robert McClory Trail
Lake Michigan Side Trip

The bike path is on the sidewalk alongside a fairly busy highway at this point (as you can see)... but it gets back into some more scenic areas just south of here. This is passing through Highwood. A little farther south of here the trail follows some small side streets through Highland Park.

We took a little side trip (east) to check out Lake Michigan here. I don't remember the name of this street but it just went out to some utility building on Lake Michigan. You are actually never really very far from the lake anywhere on the Robert McClorey or Green Bay Trails.

Those of us that are from the Chicago area know what they always say in the summertime weather reports... "Cooler By The Lake". As I mentioned before this ride was in early spring and even though we know that it is always cooler by the lake, we didn't really dress warm enough for this particular ride. When you are further west and away from the lake it's easy to just dress for the weather in that location.

This is where the road runs downhill to the lake. It is a VERY steep drop off here to the public utilities building. I always love going out to the shores of Lake Michigan although this particular location was really not the most scenic place.

OK, it wasn't the most beautiful day out at the lake (Lake Michigan), but I wanted to get a shot of my old hybrid (Trek 7300fx) by the lake. I'm glad that I did, now, since I only had this bike for about a year and don't have a lot of pictures of it (I'm back to a road bike again now... (Trek 1500)).
