This is the Tekawitha Woods Sign at the top of the big hill before the bridges over the Fox River that are just south of South Elgin. There is a small preserve here, in a wooded area, with a few picnic tables if you want to stop for a break or a snack.
This is just before the steep downhill section.
This is where you go down a very steep hill just before the long wood and steel bridges around South Elgin... You
can really get some nice speed going on this hill but then you
get thrown on to the narrow bridges below where there are
usually people hangin out on nice days so you end up losing your momentum in that particular situation.
This is also the bridge section that was closed off for construction for a few riding seasons (between 2009 and 2011). The construction is complete now and there is a completely new bridge now at the Stearns Road crossing. I posted some information and photos of the construction on the Fox River Trail here and there are some photos of the new bridge on photo page 5 of this photo tour.
