Here's another HDR photo of the wetlands along the Ahnapee Trail.
Here is another photo with the benches along the trail although the benches were staggered at this location.
The first small town that you go through, as you go south from Sturgeon Bay, is Maplewood. The building in the photo above was right along the trail and is a more typical, rural scene of these small Wisconsin towns. Quite a contrast from the built up Door County tourist areas. I think Dale captured the feel of this rural area well in this HDR photo.
OK, this is where I switch to Day 2 of our ride on the Ahnapee Trail. Above is the photo of where we parked for our second ride from where we turned around on the first ride and continued into Algoma.
Just to the left in the photo above is the Timber Trail Campgrounds.
One of the things that I noticed along this part of the trail was this fairly large section of huge arborvitae bushes (or trees). These are one of my favorite evergreen bushes which is why I noticed them.
Here's the fork in the path in or just outside of Algoma where you can go left (above) to continue southwest to Casco or right to go north to Sturgeon Bay.
One of my bike riding philosophies is very similar to a Yogi Berra saying: Whenever I come to a fork in the path, I always take it!
This is truly where this section of the trail ends in Algoma. Algoma is right on Lake Michigan and is an interesting town which is why we saved this part of the trail for our second ride.
