At this point we have left Elroy and are on the 400 State Trail again and on our way back to Reedsburg. This is getting to be a little later in the day which can also give the fall colors a much different look. The photo above is Dale on his Tour Easy recumbent.
There is still plenty of fall color and this lake (or Slough) looks quite a bit different at this time of day than it did earlier when we were still on our way to Elroy. This is the Hemlock Slough once again in Hemlock-Sauk Park between LaValle and Wonewoc.
The wooden bridge and rock wall just past the slough on the way back from Elroy.

There is no shortage of "photo ops" along the bike trail. This was a particularly scenic area. When we completed our ride and I was doing some research on the trail and checking out the photos that other people had posted I noticed that there were quite a few photos of this area.
An open area with subdued fall colors on our way back to the trail head at Reedsburg.
The large rock by the bench has a plaque on it that says "Mike's Place - This land between the Old 400 Trail and the Baraboo River is dedicated to Mike Beuthling. He eagerly biked the trails and canoed the streams through the woodlands he loved. Rest a moment, regain your strength, and refresh your spirit before continuing your journey. - Mike's Family and Friends June 5, 1993 "
I looked this up on the internet and found that Mike's family bought, developed, and donated land to create this rest area on the 400 Trail.
What a nice memorial and thank you.
