This is Maple Park which is located at Winston Drive and Anderson Drive and is directly across from the south east end of the Palatine Trail. Since I live in Palatine I have gotten on to the Palatine Trail at many different places but this is the start of the trail for the photos as I headed west (and north) to the end of the trail at Dundee Road.
If you do not live near by and want to ride this trail you would take Illinois 53 to Palatine Road west to Winston Drive (north)..
The photo above is the start of the Palatine
Bike Trail off of Anderson Drive, at Maple Park. There are some houses to the right of the trail in this section and a creek to the left.
After the first section along the stream you go through Lindberg Park and the trail runs alongside Lake Louise (shown on the right above). This is one of the lakes that you can see from Route 53. There is still a small stream on the right here too.
After you go past Lake Louise the trail turns to the left heading east. This part of the Palatine Trail runs through the subdivision in an open area under the power lines. The photo above is a typical scene for this side of the trail. There are a few neighborhood streets that you cross on this part of the trail.
When you get to Hicks Road you take a left where the trail goes on to a
wide sidewalk along Hicks Road for a short distance. This is just before the Hicks Road underpass.
Don't miss the turn to the
Hicks Road Underpass on the left. The photo above shows the entrance to the Hicks Road underpass. It is marked pretty well but it is possible to miss it. It is actually really nice to have the underpass and not have to cross Hicks Road.
