There is another branch of the trail that goes out to Barrington Road here. The Poplar Creek Trail actually starts to run parallel to Barrington Road up ahead anyway but this branch may get you out there quicker depending on which way you want to go once you get there.
There was a little flooding on the side of the trail here which actually looked like it could have been a small pond in drier times.
The photo above show where the Poplar Creek Trail comes up to the intersection of Golf and Barrington Roads. This is on the east side of Poplar Creek forest preserve as I continued by trip east and north at this point.
Golf Road and Barrington Road are both busy roads and this is another one of the busy intersections that you must cross as you ride the Poplar Creek Trail. There are traffic signals and pedestrian crossing signals here but you still have to wait to cross (unless your timing is just right).
This part of the trail runs along Barrington Road as you come up to St. Alexius Hospital.
The path runs only a few feet away from Barrington Road at this point but at least there is a wooden fence between the path and the road. I have ridden on other trails where there is nothing between the bike path and the highway and I definitely prefer having something between me and the cars on the highway.
You get a glimpse of St Alexius hospital through the trees here. This is part of the Hoffman Estates Medical Center (I know this place pretty well since both of my kids were born here :-) ).
...and finally this is where we come up to Barrington Road Woods where we started this Poplar Creek Bike Trail trip and photo tour and where I parked for this ride.
Here's the photo tour of the Poplar Creek Bike trail from June, 2009.
